Periodicals Data Base
Given the increased emphasis on publication of research results in recent years, the EAAE proudly presents its
database of periodicals, which provides a timely tool for researchers, educators, professionals and students in architecture in search of suitable media for disseminating their research output. The database contains some 700 periodicals, many of them scientifically oriented (with peer review processes in place), others more focused on professional excellence, others engaged with artistic research, still others combining several of these characteristics. We consider all of them relevant for research in and development of architecture.

The database is still a work in progress. The list of titles should not be considered complete - more periodicals can and will be added (notably in several language areas and neighbouring disciplines). Also the information is not yet complete for each and every periodical that is featured. The subcommittee on periodicals nevertheless decided to make this database available now, because in its present state we consider it already very useful.
We hope that, by facilitating the dissemination of research results, this database will contribute to the quality of research in architecture. It will also, we expect, provoke further discussion on assessment criteria for the results of research in architecture. Last, but not least, we hope that it will increase the visibility of architecture as a field on the European knowledge map. Too often architecture is not deemed suitable for indexing in scientific citation indexes (cfr. the absence of architecture in the European Research Council list of disciplines or in the Science Citation Index). We hope that this instrument will be used as a corrective to set the record straight as to the richness and strength of architectural research.
The EAAE subcommittee on periodicals welcomes new members, who can help us to update the database. Candidates should teach at one of EAAE’s member schools. They can contact (
